Privacy Policy

Effective August 10, 2026

HORD is a private registry for fashion and luxury collectors, operated by The Hord, Inc. (“HORD”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the HORD app and thehord.io, how we use it, and the choices you have. It should be read together with our Terms of Service.

Information we collect

Account and sign-in. Your email address (when you sign in with an emailed code), or the name and email Apple shares when you use Sign in with Apple (which may be a private relay address if you choose to hide your email).

Profile. The handle, display name, bio, and profile photo you set, and your answers to our onboarding questions (the kind of collector you are, what you collect, and what draws you to it).

Your collection. The photographs you upload of your pieces and the details attached to them — brand, model, category, condition, and any notes or corrections you provide — together with the valuations our system generates for them.

Activity in the registry. The collectors you follow and who follows you, the pieces you save, the profiles you view, and the introduction (invite) graph — which invitation admitted you and which collectors your invitations admitted.

Device and notifications. If you enable notifications, a push token that lets us deliver them to your device, along with your device platform.

Technical data. Standard server logs — IP address, request metadata, and timestamps — and operational telemetry we use to keep the service reliable.

Usage analytics. In-app product analytics — which screens and features you use, under a pseudonymous identifier, together with device model, platform, and app version. We use this solely to understand how HORD is used and to improve it.

The HORD app contains no advertising and no third-party advertising or marketing analytics SDKs. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

How we use your information

To run the registry — cataloguing your collection, generating valuations, and showing your profile and pieces to other members according to your settings.
To identify and value your pieces — your item photographs and descriptions are analyzed with the help of AI service providers, and item details (never your identity) are used to query market-data sources for comparable sales and listings.
To power anonymized market intelligence — catalogued items contribute to aggregated, anonymized market indices, as described below and in the Terms of Service.
To send notifications you've enabled — new introductions, follows, and completed valuations.
To keep HORD safe and working — security, abuse prevention, debugging, and service operations.

What other members can see

HORD is a members-only registry: your profile (handle, name, bio, photo, collector number), your catalogued pieces, and your follow relationships are visible to other admitted members. Whether other members see your valuations (your collection value and per-piece estimates) is controlled by you in Settings → Privacy. The introduction graph — who introduced whom — is part of the registry and visible to members. Nothing about your collection is visible to the public outside the membership.

Anonymized market indices

Part of what makes HORD useful is honest market data. Catalogued items contribute — permanently and on an anonymized basis — to aggregate market indices: statistics like category-level and model-level price movement over time. These aggregates never identify you or your collection, and we apply minimum-contributor thresholds before publishing any series so that individual holdings cannot be inferred. Because an index that silently rewrites its history is not a record, contributions stand as anonymized point-in-time data even if you later delete an item or close your account. Cataloguing an item constitutes your agreement to this, as set out in the Terms of Service.

Service providers

We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run HORD, each processing data only to provide their service to us:

Supabase — authentication, database, and encrypted storage for photos and data.
Render — application hosting.
Anthropic — AI analysis of item photographs and descriptions for identification and valuation.
Expo — push-notification delivery.
Mixpanel — product analytics: in-app usage events under a pseudonymous identifier, used only to understand and improve the product, never for advertising.
Market-data sources (such as eBay and specialist pricing providers) — queried with item details only, never your personal information.
Google Workspace — if you contact us through the website's introduction form, your submission is stored in a spreadsheet we control.
Google Fonts — pages on thehord.io load their typefaces from Google Fonts, so when you visit them your browser requests those font files directly from Google, which receives your IP address and standard request metadata in the process. The app itself bundles its fonts and makes no such request.

Data retention and deleting your account

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. When you do, your profile and collection are immediately removed from every member-facing surface — search, the registry, follow lists, and other members' views. We then delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except for: anonymized index contributions (described above), records we're required to keep for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes, and residual copies in backups that age out on their own schedule. You can also request deletion by emailing info@thehord.io.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app (Edit profile, Settings, Delete account); for anything else, email info@thehord.io and we'll respond within a reasonable time. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit, item photographs are stored in private buckets accessible only through the service, and access to production systems is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information with measures appropriate to what a collection registry holds.

Children

HORD is not directed to children and is intended for users 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we will delete it.

International use

HORD is operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored there. If you use HORD from elsewhere, you understand your information is transferred to the United States.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as HORD evolves. We'll post the updated version here with a new effective date, and for material changes we'll give you notice in the app. Your continued use after a change takes effect means the updated policy applies.
